16 March 2024 - MGOL - Lalit Pandit - Birthday

Happy Birthday to Composer Lalit Pandit of Jatin-Lalit Fame.

Hindi Film Music has had not one but two golden periods till date. The first one was undoubtedly from 1950-1975, but the second one - which is unfortunately and very conveniently overlooked, was from 1988 to 2000, starting from Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak - restarting the phase of melody once again in Hindi Film Music till Sarfarosh in 1999.

The top names of that era were Anand-Milind, Nadeem-Shravan, Raam-Laxman, but the pinnacle of this phase when melody was supreme was Jatin-Lalit - Most versatile and grounded in their approach. My generation will always remember them for maintaining the Indianness in Indian music - totally missing in most of today's creations. Thanks to both of them, we still have so many songs to sing and hum - all gifting the kids of my generation a melodious musical childhood.

Lalitji - Happy Birthday to you Sir! (Sorry...I do not know the year of his Birth - Any authentic information regarding that will be highly appreciated)
