Dr. Salil Latay - In Concert - Sukoonbhare Nagme
A gentleman calls me – “I want to celebrate the 55th
year anniversary of my parent's wedding and would like to gift them a music
concert. I have heard you once and have had your number since. Can you sing
tomorrow at a short notice?” I was happy and said – Sure Sir.
When we met at the venue – came one of the biggest surprises of my life. The great
gentleman – Mr. Jagpreet Singh Ghai - The man with his Excavation and
Earth Moving company – H H Engineers; creator of the famous
Kamshet 1 & 2 and Khandala Tunnels built on the Mumbai – Pune Yashwantrao
Chavan Expressway, along with hundreds of bridges for Central Railway and
Konkan Railway, Tata Power, L&T and so on...had actually heard me sing 20 years
ago at Poona Club! He was impressed and had taken my number. When this occasion
came up – I was the first one he remembered and called.
Can there be any better acknowledgement or reward for any
artist, than this impression that was created and also the efforts taken by
someone to reconnect after 2 decades? That is exactly what my Mission of Melody
with Sukoon Bhare Nagme has been doing to many, for the past 21+ years all over
India. Creating everlasting musical memories – by the sheer beauty and depth of
the lyrics and an absolute honest and simplest presentation. I always say – My music
and concerts are for the hardcore Dardi. (Real Connoisseurs with great taste)
I was honoured to create a musical memory for Mr. Ghai in
2004 and again create a memory for his great parents – Dr. Suhel Singh Ghai and
Mrs. Baldev Ghai along with nearly 70 of their close family members and
relatives at the wonderful setting of the Nakshatra Banquet Hall of Hotel Shree
Panchratna.
What an audience, what appreciation and blessings. A memory
for life! Thank You Jagpreetji for remembering me and granting me this special
opportunity of celebration with your parents and family. I am truly touched
Sir.
