Dr. Salil Latay - In Concert - Sukoonbhare Nagme
Sukoon Bhare Nagme with Vocal Sonata celebrating not one but
two auspicious occasions in the scenic setting of Athashri @ Forest Trails,
Bhugaon near Pune.
Captain Shashikant Koppikar (A retired pilot with Indian Air
Force and then with Air India – who had the honour of being the Pilot in
Command of the famous Air India One flights a few times with the then Prime Minister
of India – Shri. Atal Bihari Vajpayee on board for his overseas visits) gifted
my concert to the residents of Athashri @ Forest Trails to celebrate Dasra and
to celebrate his birthday the next day - for his relatives, who had travelled from
various parts of India for the special occasion. What an honour. Thank You Sir.
In the audience was one person who meant the world to me.
The very first person in life after my parents – who thought I could sing on
stage at the age of 5. Smt. Shaila Rao – my teacher of Class 1, who attended
this concert. It was after decades, that she got to see – what her suggestion,
motivation had turned out to be. Rao Teacher – as we used to address her then,
and now I address her as Rao Ma’am since our first reunion in 2023 at Pune –
even sang with me on stage that day along with Capt. Koppikar.
What’s all the connection here? The icing on the cake is –
Rao Ma’am happens to be the elder sister of Capt. Koppikar and specially travelled
from Goa at the age of 85 to be there for her younger brother’s birthday and my
concert.
What a memory for life! Thank You Universe, Thank You Capt. Shashikant
